WEMIHS’s unwavering commitment to child protection has achieved significant milestones in strengthening systems for better outcomes. This progress has been driven by mobilizing, coordinating, and negotiating with key government departments and local authorities, alongside resource mobilization and community sensitization efforts.
Key achievements include the establishment of the Children Protection Unit (CPU), a dedicated Children’s Court, and a network of trained child protection volunteers.
The CPU offers critical services to traumatized survivors of child abuse and their caregivers, providing a safe space with access to medical examinations, psychological and legal counseling, and connections to rescue services. These advancements mark a transformative step in implementing child protection policies in Kiambu County.
